What are the services like?
We have two services at 9:30 and 11:15 on Sunday mornings. Both services have a variety of different music. The choir and organ typically play at the first service. A band or acoustical music typically plays at the second. But, we like to mix things up. Communion is served every week at the second service and once a month at the first service. Both services are family friendly. The first service has a children's sermon and children's church. The second service is 45 minutes and has a staff resource to help children experience the liturgy of the service.

What should I do when I arrive?
When you enter the main doors, to the right are the coat room and the stairs going up to the sanctuary, where the services are held. To the left are the restrooms and fellowship hall, where coffee will be brewing. To the left is also the elevator that provides handicapped access to the upper level and the sanctuary.

We are friendly and will probably introduce ourselves to you, but visitors are not specifically called out during the service. After each service, enjoy coffee and donuts, chat with members and our pastors, and take a look around. Take time to view our various sign ups for mission and fellowship opportunities. If you have young children or teens, check out the spaces for them, meet the directors on staff and see what our Christian Education and Youth programs have to offer. Should there be a special brunch or meal that day, please join us for that too.

Are there special accomodations?
In addition to elevators we also provide:
+ a family bathroom on the lower level behind the youth space
+ wheelchair accessible bathrooms on both floors
+ open spaces in some pews that fit wheelchairs and walkers
+ an audio system for the hard of hearing
+ large print bulletins
+ noise blocking headphones for kids (in a box in the lower level coat room)
+ comfortable couches and soft chairs in the Narthex for people who can't sit in pews for long periods
+ snack modifications in Sunday School for children with allergies

What should I wear?
Wear what makes you comfortable. If you like to dress up, then dress up. If you prefer jeans, then that's what you should wear. No matter how you dress, there will likely be plenty of people dressed just as you are.

Are children welcome at Valley?
Are children welcome? Absolutely! Children 2nd grade and up are encouraged to join you for the entire worship service.  Younger children can also stay or, if your family chooses, are welcome to go to the nursery, which is professionally staffed and on the upper level, or join our staff and volunteers in the classrooms on the lower level for special programming for children during the worship service.

In between the two worship services is Sunday School, where children pre-K through 6th grade enjoy fellowship and learn about the grace of God.  We look forward to seeing your family!

Can I speak to a pastor?
If you have any questions or would like to get in touch with either of our pastors, just give the office a call at (763) 588-0831. We are always happy to hear from you.

We are part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) denomination.

We were officially organized on May 20, 1951 when Golden Valley and the surrounding suburbs were first growing in the post-war building boom.

The original chapel, now the lounge, was built in 1952.

The Fellowship Hall was added in 1957.

The current sanctuary was added in 1965.

The Education wing was added in 1988.

The current sanctuary was built with space for an organ which took over 40 years to arrive. Read more about the history of our organ.

Valley Church currently has almost 500 members.

Our neighborhood in Golden Valley is experiencing a resurgence of young families.
