The VCPC Indigenous Justice Taskforce invites adults and youth to this powerful event with Sarah Augustine (Tewa / Pueblo), Executive Director of the Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery. Augustine leads a national and international movement for justice for Indigenous peoples. She is also an author, scholar, mother, teacher, and conflict mediator.
Augustine challenges communities to take heart and take action: “We must have the courage to join together to imagine, create, and construct, with hope and humility, systems that pursue life.” Many of us read Augustine’s book The Land is Not Empty last year. Register HERE to attend in-person or online. Thanks to a generous grant from the VCPC Endowment Committee, Valley is a co-sponsor of a weekend full of events during Augustine’s visit to MN. We would love to have as many Valley folks attend as possible – please join us!
There are also plans for an April 4 midday potluck meal and an April 5 book study with Sarah. For more information, contact Mariah Messer (Mariah.Messer@valleychurch.net).
