Funds for music, art, community efforts and more
These funds have been established by members and friends of Valley Community Presbyterian Church and provide funding for grants that allow for the continuation of the church’s mission and ministry both within and beyond our church family.

Est. 1984
Income from the fund will be used to support special religious, charitable, educational
and benevolent projects for both Valley and outside group purposes. For Valley, to be
used primarily for expenditures not usually in the general church budget.

Income from the fund will be used to help support just and peaceful living, and to care for all of creation, from the environment, to people around the world, and to our
neighbors next door.

Memorial to Philip E. Peteler and Jean C. Peteler and Penny VanBeek
Income to be used annually for special music programs. Funds would be available for special needs of music committee of Valley Community Presbyterian Church.

Memorial to Ed Beck and Joyce Beck
To interpret the term “evangelism” broadly as reaching out to spread the Good News of Christ and His Church. It is not intended to place rigid restrictions on use of income generated by this fund.

Gift from Helen Coffin
To use income from fund for bell choir purposes upon written request from the Director of the Bell choir. Income to be available for supplies, repairs, purchases of additional equipment or expenses
incurred by Director for travel and/or conferences. In the event VCPC no longer has a Bell Choir, income would be made available for programs of VCPC.

Gift from Donna L. Carlson. In memory of Floyd A. Carlson
To use income from fund for those pursuing educational church-related opportunities such as seminary study, preparation for seminary, conferences, seminars, and workshops. Scholarships would not be limited to Valley members.

Income from the fund will be used to support children in need. Priority will be given to low-income families.

Gift from Barbara Johnston
To provide financial support for women who are interested in pursuing ordination to the ministry of
word and sacrament and who are strongly committed to inclusiveness and gender equality in all aspects of church life. Scholarship was established to provide support for older, non-traditional applicants and will be awarded in increments of $500. Contact Endowment Committee for more details.

In memory of Elizabeth V. Hnatko Hick
To use the income from the fund to support congregational life within the church membership. Support
could include special event expenses, hardship assistance, equipment/supplies involved in
congregational life activities. These projects shall enhance and support the congregational life of the individual, group, or entire congregation of the church. Potential support should be broadly interpreted by the Endowment Fund Committee and may be expected to be adjusted to the ever-changing needs of the local church community.

In memory of Isabel Snyder Rice & Isabel Leaf
Maintenance and upkeep of physical properties of VCPC. Disbursements to be used for projects not
included in the church annual operating budget; e.g. replacement of parking lot surface, replacement of
boiler and or air conditioning systems, updating telephone system and office equipment. Annual
disbursements will be allowed to accumulate until project(s) is identified.

In memory of Wendell K. Gilkerson and Marcella H. Gilkerson
To use the income to maintain, repair or enhance the Valley Community Presbyterian Church Pipe Organ
that was installed in 2007.

In memory of JacLyn Bodette
The income of this fund will be used to enhance the Children's Ministry Program at Valley Community
Presbyterian Church. The Session and the Children's Ministry Committee can use the monies of the fund for special summer programs, Sunday morning classes or children fellowship events. These monies are designated for Valley's children, but with session approval may include all of God's children.

Income from this fund will be used primarily to help the families of VCPC men and women who are on
active duty working to protect the freedom which allows us to worship at Valley Community
Presbyterian Church. Secondarily, funds can also be used to help Valley community veterans and their
families who are having problems getting the resources they need and deserve for the sacrifices they
have made.

In memory of Zorada Hoge
The income of this fund will be used to beautify the outside areas of the church. For example, these
monies could be used for such projects as planting new trees or shrubs, purchasing new outdoor
furniture, maintaining the parking lot, enhancing the community garden, or funding other requests
recommended by the Property Committee.

In memory of Zorada Hoge
The income of this fund will be used to support both existing and new programs in pastoral care at
Valley Community Presbyterian Church. For example, these monies could be used to supplement the
Pastor's Discretionary Fund, provide funding for special care needs identified by the Deacons, help
support the possible addition of a parish nurse position, or provide support for home bound members or
families with special healthcare needs.

In memory of Karla Parks
To provide financial scholarships to adults who are in search of the peace and solace that Clearwater
Forest and its 1,016 acres can provide. Scholarships would not be limited for women and men's retreat; youth and family scholarships could also be considered. At year-end if funding is needed to improve
buildings or grounds of Clearwater Forest, those requests could also be considered.

In memory of Warren (Pete) Peterson
To encourage and support children and youth in building the skills necessary to impact their world by
serving those in need. Service may be in their own communities or beyond. Priority will be given to
summer mission experiences. To receive a scholarship, children and youth must be active participants in
the life of Valley.

In memory of Helen Potter Webb
To use income from this fund for advances in communication, technology, and internet services at
Valley. Projects could include but are not limited to improvements to the website; internet access
throughout the building; communication technology such as screens and sound systems; and projection
equipment and video production promoting Valley to our neighbors, our community, and beyond. These
projects would make Valley and its ministry accessible to others, while connecting members and visitors
to resources which could improve their worship, faith formation and fellowship experience.

In memory of Allyson Graphenteen
To ensure all youth and children can participate in activities that encourage faith formation and build
relationships within the community. The scholarship is designated for Valley's youth, but with Session
approval may include all of God's children.

Income from this fund is intended to serve as a “pledge in perpetuity” by Valley families and friends to
the VCPC annual stewardship campaign. At the beginning of the fiscal year, all income available from
this fund will be disbursed.

In memory of LaRue Riewe and in honor of Nathan and Matthew Anderson
To create and support efforts that advance justice in our world, the DO JUSTICE fund will invest in
significant solutions to issues connected (but not limited) to: the environment, church partner concerns,
affordable housing, affordable health care, anti-racism, immigration reform, gun reform, and equity in education.

To provide supplies and other support for students and classrooms, teachers, and staff at Noble
Elementary School in Golden Valley. If Noble School is ever not viable, grants could be considered for other District 281 schools. Funds available would be transferred to a Valley Dedicated Account (Noble Vision) at the beginning of each calendar year, allowing Valley Tutors to utilize the money for classroom
support. Noble Elementary school started in 1955, just a couple years after Valley Community
Presbyterian Church was founded. Today, their classrooms are multicultural, and serve many low-income families in our community. Valley Community has many members who provide tutoring every
week. Valley members could request money to purchase needed supplies and items for the classroom
and students.

To provide financial support to the TEAMS (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math, and Spirituality)
program at Valley for supplies, special projects, and field trips. The TEAMS program is for children in 4th
and 5th grade that engages kid in a wide variety of projects and outings that explore STEM principles,
while also exploring their faith and building lasting relationships.
