The Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches (GMCC) has announced its 45th March Campaign in partnership with Minnesota FoodShare. According to the GMCC website, this is “the largest grassroots food and fund drive in the state, brings together organizations, businesses, faith communities, and individuals to help stock and support the capacity of nearly 300 food shelves.”
When you make a trip to the grocery store to pick up food for your family, consider picking up a few items to donate to PRISM. They have put a call out for the following most needed items: SUGAR, RICE, OIL, FLOUR, CLEANING PRODUCTS, PAPER TOWELS, CEREAL, CANNED PASTA, SOUPS. Bring these by Valley to drop them off in the cart through the entire month of March. Maybe you and your family would like to commit to buying donation items each time you visit the store!
We have assigned donation categories to each week of the drive. But obviously all donations are welcome anytime!
Weekly Food Categories:
— Week 1 (March 1 – 7): CANNED GOODS (canned fruits, vegetables, meats/fish, soups)
— Week 2 (March 8 – 14): BAKING (flour, sugar, baking soda, oils, boxed cake/bread mixes)
— Week 3 (March 15 – 21): PANTRY STAPLES (rice, pasta, sauces, cereal, boxed dinners, mac n’ cheese)
